Michael J. Kaufman

Michael (Mikey!) James Kaufman, age 46, formerly of Fond du Lac, died October 7, 2005 at his home in Durango, Colorado. Mike was born July 14, 1959, the second son of the late Wayne J. Kaufman and the late Georgia DeMets-Fravert. He grew up in Fond du Lac, attended St. Joseph's grade school, and graduated from St. Mary's Springs High School in 1977. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1978 and entered the Security Police Officer field. He was stationed in numerous stateside and overseas locations during a twenty-year Air Force career. Mike met his wife Anna (also an Air Force Security Police Officer) when they were posted together at Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were married in April 1994. Mike retired from the Air Force in October 1998 and he and Anna Moved to Durango, Colorado where they made their home. Mike loved all animals, especially dogs. He always had an open heart for stray and hopeless pooches that he thought needed love and attention. A native Wisconsinite, Mike's football fever was always the Packers no matter where in the world he was. He loved the outdoors and was at home fishing in the streams and lakes of the Colorado Rockies. Survivors include his wife Anna of Durango, Colorado, two brothers, Bill (Judy) Kaufman of Fond du Lac, and Steve (Mia) Kaufman of Tacoma, Washington and his paternal grandmother Marcella Kaufman of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepparents, maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparent.



Visitation: Will be held Sunday May 7, 2006 from 1pm to 3pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Memorial Services will follow the visitation at 3pm. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held on Monday at Chapel of the Risen Christ with Trier Puddy conducting military rites. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
