Michael J. Mies

Michael J. Mies, 62, died on July 12, 2007, at his residence at 233 S. Main Street, Oakfield, surrounded in love by his family. He was born April 25, 1945, in Fond du Lac, the son of Norman and Geraldine Schneider Mies. On December 31, 1966, he married Cheryl Selover in Fond du Lac. Mr. Mies was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Church, and a member of The Gideons Interanational. Mike worked in the plumbing trade for over 40 years, and served in the US Army National Guards and Reserves for over 12 years.Surviving is his wife, Cheryl, who Mike loved and adored, four daughters; Shelley (Philip) Wallander of New Richmond, WI, Sherrey (Jeff) Jaeger of Sheboygan, Sharissa (Travis) Schwien of Mountain View, MO, and Shalanna (Jonathan) Mahlstedt of Waupun, two sons; Jeff (Jami) Mies of Oakfield, and Jered (Niki) Mies of Fond du Lac, and a brother, Norman "Butch" (Kay) Mies, Jr. of Fond du Lac. Mike was a devoted husband, and father, and leaves behind 11 wonderful grandchildren who were the pride of his life-Justin, Shianne, Alexa, Alysa, Aleah, Cam, Arianne, Faith, Caris, Amanda, and Keira. Further surviving are aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.



Mike's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 16, 2007, from 1 to 4 pm at the Lighthouse Christian Church in Fond du Lac to celebrate his life. Memorial services will be at 4 pm at the church on Monday. Rev. Brent Balken and Mr. Mies' son-in-law, Pastor Jeff Jaeger will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
