Minerva A. Franzen

Minerva A. Franzen, age 93, formerly of 114 E. Cotton St, Fond du Lac, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Grancare Nursing Home where she has resided since 2001. She was born on February 28, 1915 in Fond du Lac the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Mertes) Schmitz. She graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in June of 1933. On December 16, 1942 she married Leo Franzen at St. Mary's Church with the Reverend Peter Gersbach officiating. Minerva and Leo celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 16, 1992. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1998. Minerva cared for her family after her mother's passing away when she was seventeen years old; her father lived with her and Leo until his death. Minerva was an avid baker, and lifetime helpmate to Leo. Together they nurtured their beloved cats.SURVIVORS: nieces and nephews, Richard (Joyce) Krenke of Fond du Lac, David (Karen) Krenke of Allenton, PA, James Krenke of Spring, TX, Lynn Buckingham of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo, sister, Phyllis and her husband Lloyd Krenke of Fond du Lac, brother Sidney and Maxine Schmitz of Lac du Flambeau, brother "Bill" Schmitz of Fond du Lac.
