Monica L. "Mona" Rolling

October 20, 1914 — August 22, 2017

Monica L. “Mona” Rolling, 102, died August 22, 2017 at St. Francis Terrace in Fond du Lac. She was born in Marathon City, Wis. on October 20, 1914 to Hugo and Olive (Baur) Eisenman. On August 27, 1938, Mona married Louis G. Rolling at St. Andrew’s Church in Chicago. Ill. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1990.

Since 1966, Mona was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, later becoming Holy Family Parish, in Fond du Lac. She was a member of Catholic Women’s Society and Calvary Parents Guild. After raising her family, Mona became a personal caregiver for the elderly in Fond Du Lac for over 15 years. She was also a volunteer at Loaves and Fishes, the Fond du Lac Senior Center Meal Program and ManorCare Health Services for many years. Mona enjoyed making quilts, knitting and crocheting, embroidery, card playing, travel, and reading. She was famous for her flower gardening skills as anyone walking past her 4th St. home would attest and she was thrilled with the newspaper article written by the Fond Du Lac newspaper about her prowess with flowers.

Mona is survived by 6 sons, Timothy (Shirley), Andrew (Ellen), Ken (Rochelle), John (Barbara), Steven (Kathy) and Mark (Betty); 2 daughters, Monica Scott and Elaine Brockman; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Rolling; 32 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Catherine Baumann and Doris (Larry) Hanz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; a son, Donald; an infant daughter, Geralyn, in 1957; her parents, Hugo and Olive; a brother, Winand (Ruth) Eisenman; 4 sisters, Gertrude (Ambrose) Sicklinger, Marie (Jake) Dix, Annette (John) Hoffman and Mercedes (Valentine) Rolling; and a brother-in-law, Charles Baumann.

Visitation for Mona will be held Friday, August 25, 2017 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way in Fond du Lac. Her life will be celebrated with a Mass beginning at 11:00 AM. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment in Marathon City will occur at a later date.

Mona’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the St. Francis Home, 33 Everett St. in Fond Du Lac or to Agnesian Hospice, 239 Trowbridge Dr. in Fond Du Lac.

Monica’s family is greatly indebted to the entire staff of St. Francis Terrace for the kindness and tender care they provided during Monica’s 10 years of residence. Words cannot express adequately all the kindnesses – large and small – shown to her. A very special thanks to her “guardian angel”, Dorothy Kraus, for her help and companionship. We are also indebted to Agnesian Hospice Care for all their care and attention to Mom, especially Andy Land, her palliative nurse, friend, and confidant.
