Myron F. "Mike" Hintz

January 1, 1934 — April 15, 2017

Myron “Mike” Hintz, 83, of Fond du Lac, WI, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Mike was born on the family farm in Nelsonville, WI on January 1, 1934, to Edward and Veronica (Gagas) Hintz. Mike was a graduate of Amherst High School. On April 7, 1956, Mike married his high school sweetheart, Vergene Lutz, in Fond du Lac and both were blessed with 61 years of marriage. Mike was a laboratory technician for Galloway West/Borden Foods, retiring after 41 years of service. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Lake Emily Association.

Mike loved and will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed working in the orchard he established (Apple Valley Orchard), making new friends while selling apples at open markets in Fond du Lac and Madison. Weekends were spent making fresh apple juice with family. He enjoyed early spring trout fishing trips on small streams near his hometown of Nelsonville, and pan fishing at Cass Lake, Minnesota and at his Lake Emily home. Mike also enjoyed a lifetime of fall deer hunting with family and Sun-Ski Club members. He also enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Because Mike was proud of his Polish heritage, he made kielbasa with his siblings and danced and listened to polkas.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Vergene; four children, Diane (Mark) Whyms, Howard (Kathi) Hintz, Janice (Tim) Klaske and Mark (Ginger) Hintz; eleven grandchildren, Laura (Joshua) Ingram, Emily Whyms, Annette Whyms, Garrett Whyms, Jacob Hintz, Joseph Hintz, Elizabeth Hintz, Kimberly (Brad) Beger, Rachel Simon, Michael Hintz and Thomas (Jenna) Hintz; and eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Paige, Wyatt, Joel, Jack, Sawyer, Davis and Ella. He is further survived by three brothers, Ernie (Greta) Hintz, George (Ginny) Hintz, and Connie (Sandy) Hintz; a sister, Dee (Dennis) Berna; in-laws, La Verne (Glenice) Lutz, Helen Lutz and Maxine Lutz, Toni Hintz and Al Hoffmann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by loving family; Leonard Hintz, Eddie (Henri) Hintz, Ramona (Ben) Gavin, Jacob (Edith) Lutz, Gilbert Lutz, John Lutz, Otto (Myra) Lutz, Glenn Lutz, Jacob “Sonny” Lutz and Adeline (Lefty) Ziegler.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Entombment in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery will follow the services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
