Myrtle M. BeyerMyrtle M. Beyer, a lifelong resident of Fond du Lac, died at her home, at 103 years of age on Monday afternoon, August 21, 2006. Myrtle was born April 23, 1903, in Calumetville, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Ann Theyerl Strebe. On October 26, 1921, she married Dewey Beyer in Malone, WI. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1989. She and her husband started farming in Malone and later started their own business, Beyer's Hybred Seeds. Later, the family moved to Fond du Lac, and opened a pet and seed store on the corner of 2nd and Macy Streets. Myrtle was a very kind and caring person. She enjoyed being with her family and also being part of 17 grandchildren's lives and watching them grow. Myrtle was a bookkeeper for their business, a seamstress, and a wonderful mother. She was a member of the Church of Peace and former member of the Lioness Club. An avid sports fan, she followed the Brewers, Packers, and Bucks until her final day.Surviving are three daughters, Gloria Abraham of Pomona, CA, Audrey (Gordon) Burton of Beaver Dam, and Karen Janzen of Fond du Lac, two sons, Ronald (Joan) Beyer of Fond du Lac, and Errol Beyer of Monterey, CA, 17 grandchildren, Jim Abraham of Sandy, Utah, Gary (Carol) Abraham of La Verne, CA, Jeff and Steve Abraham of Yucca Valley, CA, Keith Abraham of Pomona, CA, James (Linda) Burton of The Netherlands, Cathy (Mike) Kirby of McFarland, WI, Robert (Linda) Burton of Beaver Dam, WI, David (Cindy) Burton of Edgerton, WI, Linda Beyer of Fond du Lac, Robert Beyer of Stone Mountain, GA, and Jill (Dennis) Buehring and Keith Beyer, both of Oshkosh, Lisa (Ryan) Schumacher of Neenah, David (Dawn) Emery-Janzen of Door County, WI, and Jody Janzen, of Oshkosh, and 20 great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, an infant son, Karl, an infant grandson, Richard Burton, a granddaughter, Lori Beyer, three sisters, Elsa Gilgenbach, Myra Burg, Ethel Huebschman, and two sons-in-law, Marvin Abraham and Michael Janzen, preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Myrtle M. Beyer will be on Saturday, August 26, 2006, from 2 to 3:30 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 3:30 pm at the funeral home on Saturday. The Rev. Virginia Pych will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
