Nicholas Lee Abler

Nicholas L. Abler, 70, of 78 Pheasant Ct. died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at his residence following a two-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Nick was born May 26, 1933 in Ashland, KY, a son of Lucille and Lewis Abler. On November 11, 1956 he married Evelyn Freund at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Nick served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. He was employed at G&L for several years and later in maintenance for Fond du Lac County, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, his cottage, and spending time with family and friends. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles #270 and numerous hunting and fishing clubs. Survivors include his wife Evelyn of Fond du Lac, two daughters; Debra (Kris) Larsen of Elk River, MN and Sandra (Rich) Ryan of Eldorado, two grandsons; Christopher (Angie) Ryan of Fond du Lac and Nicholas Ryan of Eldorado, one great granddaughter; Laurel Rose Ryan of Fond du Lac, one brother; Alois (Ruth) Abler of Ironton, OH, one sister-in-law; Shirley Abler of Fond du Lac, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by is parents and one brother George in 1990.



Visitation for Mr. Abler will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held March 17, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with the Very Rev. Patrick Heppe officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
