Noreen M. Walgenbach 1920 - 2005Noreen M. Walgenbach passed away on February 14. She was most recently a resident of St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. Mrs. Walgenbach was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, on February 29, 1920, to Fred and Daisy Monks. At an early age her father moved her to Madison, WI, where Joe and Ann Bliss raised her for much of her youth. She also spent time as a youth with her grandparents in Dublin, Ireland. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Praire du Chien, WI, and attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. After returning to Madison, she met and married Eugene Walgenbach of Fond du Lac . In 1949 they moved to Oakfield, WI, where they raised their family. She resided in Oakfield until 1996, when she moved to Fond du Lac.Noreen was known for her easy going and friendly personality, her generous and caring nature. She was a best friend to many people. She was an optimist by nature, which enabled her to raise her four children by herself after the death of her husband at the early age of 42 in 1964. She managed a small business, Oakfield Apparatus Inc., for many years after her husband's death, and also worked for a variety of other business's to help educate her children. She enjoyed reading and traveling, often visiting her children, who had moved out of state, and to her ancestral home in Ireland where she had relatives. She had many dear friends in the Fond du Lac area and in St. Pete's Beach, FL, where she spent winters for the past 25 years. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her four children and seven grandchildren: E. Thomas Walgenbach (wife Sue and children Lisa and Amy) of Carmel, CA; Linda M. Walgenbach of Alexandria, VA; Paul J. Walgenbach (wife Donna and children Emily, Kevin and Joseph) of El Dorado Hills, CA; and James F. Walgenbach (wife Cathy and children Jake and Ben) of Hendersonville, NC.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Noreen's memory to the National Asthma Center, 1400 Jackson St., Denver, CO 80206.



Friends may visit at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home on Thursday, February 17, from 4-7 pm. A funeral will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Oakfield, on Friday, February 18, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Michael Peterson officiating. Private family inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
