Norine E. Metzger

Norine E. Metzger, 70, of Fond du Lac, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She was born on June 11, 1954, in Trenton, MI, the daughter of Norman and Margaret (Smithey) Theis. On May 18, 1973, Norine married Paul Metzger at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Detroit, MI. Norine was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society, and the church choir. She was active in various church groups and was involved in prison ministry for many years. She followed her husband in ministry Wisconsin, Montana, Bulgaria, and Michigan. Norine liked crafting, coloring, playing bingo, and spending time at the family cabin in Northern Michigan. Her greatest love was for her family with her many roles as wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Paul; six children, Christine Obenauer, Lara (Chad) Birkholz, Carl Metzger, Emily (Josiah) Stoering, Paul (Kanda) Metzger, and Rev.Peter (Lydia) Metzger; fifteen grandchildren, Zephania Obenauer, Nathan (Shelby) Birkholz, Samantha Birkholz, Allyssa (Gabriel) Pruss, Joseph Metzger, Solomon Stoering, Johnathan Stoering, Elizabeth Stoering, Daniel Stoering, Anika, Moses, Natasha, Tatyana Metzger, Franklin, and James Metzger; a great-granddaughter, Emilia Birkholz; two sisters, Karen (Ronald) Koepsell and Brenda (Thomas) Metzger; three sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Wally) Hintz, Roberta Tokarski, and Martha Kowalski; two brothers-in-law, James (Anna) Metzger and Matthew Metzger; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Margaret Theis; father and mother-in-law, Theodore and Betty Metzger; and uncle, Theodore Smithey.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1010 Adams Avenue, North Fond du Lac, WI. Memorial service will follow the visitation at the church at 4:00 PM. Cremation has taken place.
