Olga M. Roehrig, 98, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at ManorCare Nursing Home in Fond du Lac. She was born in St. Peter on April 1, 1918 to Joseph and Gertrude (Schneider) Wirtz. Olga married Ambrose Roehrig on April 19, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1964. She farmed and was a homemaker with her husband in Waupun and Dotyville, eventually settling on the Roehrig homestead just outside of Pipe. She worked at Club Harbor, Beyers Turkey Farm and in assembly for Tecumseh Products in New Holstein, from where she retired after 20 years.
Coming from a musical family, Olga sang and played both the piano and the accordion. As a young woman, she and her siblings, Rita and Rudy (on the guitar), sang and played on the local radio station, KFIZ. Olga’s love of cooking and baking was enjoyed by family and her many friends. She enjoyed traveling, especially her extended trips to Hawaii and Australia. But her greatest joy was her home where she would work outdoors in her yard with its many gardens.
Olga was a profound Catholic. Once settled on the Roehrig homestead, Olga became an active member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Christian Mothers Society,
