Orville G. Rieder, 85, of Fond du Lac, lost his 20 year battle with cancer, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born October 11, 1932 in Malone, WI, the son of Raymond and Isabel Bleuel Rieder. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1953 until November of 1955 stationed in Greenland. On May 7, 1960 he married Sally A. Hanson at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Orville worked as a machinist at Mercury Marine until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, grandchildren’s sporting events, football and baseball, woodworking, gambling and playing sheepshead, and going on vacations with family. He also liked to tinker and could fix anything.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; three children, Michelle (Daryl) Maternowski of Milwaukee, Michael Rieder of Fond du Lac, and Rachelle (Reid) Krist of Sheboygan Falls; seven grandchildren, Tony Rieder, Calli Rieder, Ryan (fiancé, Samantha Brunner) Krist, Ross and Rianna Krist, Jacob and Kacey Maternowski; one great grandson, Mason Roberts; seven siblings, Connie (Elroy) Huebschman, Paul (Pat) Rieder, Marvin (Marie) Rieder, Lester (Dorothy) Rieder, Adeline (Jon) Austin, David (Carol) Rieder, and John (Debra) Rieder; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.
