Oscar S. Benson

In loving memory of Oscar Suter Benson who passed away surrounded by his family at age 84 on May 11, 2008 at his residence. He was born on July 11, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Dr. Oscar S. and Stella Ramer Benson. He was a graduate in business of Johns Hopkins University and served in the US Army during WWII. He married Elizabeth June Mackey in 1948. They have six children and celebrated 59 years of marriage last October 2nd. Oscar and June moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1961 when he was transferred by Kiekhaefer Marine currently Mercury Marine where he worked for 21 years. He taught then at Moraine Park Technical College for 14 years before retiring. Oscar was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac. He sang in the choir and served for a decade as the church's Boy Scout Leader. He volunteered as a mediator for Fond du Lac County Courts, was a member of the Elks Club and volunteered with clients at Brooke Industries. SURVIVORS: his wife, Elizabeth June Benson, Fond du Lac, WI; his children, Laura (Matthew) Ottusch, Delafield, WI, Matthew (Teresa) Benson, Sheboygan, WI, Brian (Eva) Benson, Longmont, CO, Mark Benson, Osaka, Japan, Michael (Leslie) Benson, Fond du Lac, WI, David (Tere) Benson, Madison, WI; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Anne Leavitt, Baltimore, MD; two sisters-in-law, Avis (Larry) Autry, Pittsboro, NC; Wylda Benson, Baltimore, MD; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Charles Thomas Benson, one brother-in-law, Dean Leavitt.



VISITATION: will be held from 10 "“ 11 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at the church with Rev. Barbara Carmichael officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Agnes Hospice Hope and to First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
