Ottie A. Schneider, 79, formerly of St. Peter, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Walnut Grove-Fond du Lac House. He was born October 26, 1932, in Mt. Calvary, the son of Joseph and Rosa Kraus Schneider. Ottie attended school in Mt. Calvary. On August 9, 1958, he married Rose Rahmer Schmitz in St. Peter. He was formerly employed as a supervisor by Tolibia Cheese for 36 years, retiring in 1994. He was a veteran of the US Army stationed in Germany. Ottie was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Athletic Club, Fisherman Road Fishing Club, Abler-Engel American Legion Post #454 where he was post commander and commander of the firing squad, the Fond du Lac County Deputy Sheriff Reserve, Bohlman-Grimes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1904, Eagles Aerie #270, and the Eagles Anglers. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, deer hunting, and camping. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Rose, four sons, Jerry (Roberta) Schmitz of St. Peter, Michael (Cheryl) Schneider of Oshkosh, Bruce (Renee) Schneider of Green Lake, and Dennis (Karen) Schneider of Fond du Lac, three daughters, Sharon (Ray) Loehr of Campbellsport, Lynn Schneider of Pewaukee, and Karen (Paul) Nelson of Lena, 15 grandchildren, Matthew (Kristen) Schmitz, Krystle Schmitz, Jordan (Anna) Loehr, Amy Loehr, Monica Schneider, Michelle (Adam) Fletcher, Nicholas (Brenda) Schneider, , Zachary (Katherine) Schneider, Erin Schneider, Wendy Schneider, Rachel Schneider, Drew Schneider, Graham Nelson, Amber (Anthony) Burke, and Kayla Osmond, and seven great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Ralph (Marian) Schneider of Fond du Lac, and three sisters, Mildred (Orville) Haensgen of Johnsburg, Erna Halbach of Mt. Calvary, and Lorraine (Alex) Ebertz of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosa Schneider, five brothers, Edwin, Clarence, Walter, Claude, and Harvey Schneider, and one sister, Edna Hochrein.
Visitation for Ottie A. Schneider will be on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, from 4 to 8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday, June 20th, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Peter Church, St. Peter. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday at the church. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. Members of Abler-Engel American Legion Post #454 will conduct graveside military rites. A memorial has been established in Ottie's name.
