Patrick M. "Pat" Howard

Patrick M. “Pat” Howard, 86, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born December 4, 1928, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Manford and Lillian Moore Howard. He graduated from Little Rock High School. He entered the US Navy and served his beloved country during WW II. His first job was a drug salesman for Rexall Drugs. Coming to Fond du Lac, he met and married the love of his life, Beverly J. Ballard on September 5, 1964. She preceded him in death on October 9, 2008. Upon moving to Fond du Lac, he was employed by Fred Rueping Leather Company from 1963 to 1969. He was then employed by and later became president and general manager of Berlin Tanning Company in 1969, and worked until his retirement in 1996.



Pat was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Rogersville. He was a member of Lakeside Evening Kiwanis Club, and Elks Lodge #57. He was an avid golfer, playing in various leagues at Rolling Meadows Golf Course from 1973 to 2010, and played in slow and moderate pitch leagues for Boudry Electric in the 1960’s. His greatest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces play softball, baseball, and his great nephew play football.



Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie (Mark) Wilson of Dallas, TX, and Debra (James “Google”) Borndahl of Fond du Lac: three sons, Lin Howard of Fond du Lac, Michael “Little Mike” (Laura) Schwandt, also of Fond du Lac, and Scott (Terri) Howard of Eustis, FL; nine grandchildren, Christy Howard, Heather (Terry) Huseman, Charley (Bec) Howard, Heidi (Aaron) Potratz, David Wilson, Dustin (Brandis) Howard, James Wilson, Nikki (Andrew) Murphy, and Ryan Howard. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, MaKenya, Olivia, Landon, Mason, and Jameson. He is further survived by two brothers-in-law, Earl McConnell of Kansas City, Missouri and Eugene “Pee Wee” Pfalzgraf of Oakfield, a sister-in-law, Maggie Ballard, of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. His parents, wife, a son, Mike, “Big Mike”, and a sister, Billie Jean preceded him in death.



Visitation for Patrick “Pat” Howard will be on Sunday, November 29, 2015, from 1 to 3 PM at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, N5680 Towne Road (Rogersville), Rosendale. Funeral services will be at 3 PM at the church on Sunday. The Rev. Kimberly Stowell will officiate. Entombment in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum will take place on Monday during private committal services. A memorial has been established in Pat’s name.
