Paul E. Nitz

Rev. Paul Ernest Nitz, the fourth of six children of Pastor Henry C. Nitz and Alma (nee Pingel) Nitz, was born on November 19, 1926, in East Fork, Arizona. His father served as a WELS missionary to the Apaches. Paul Ernest Nitz entered the kingdom of God by baptism on December 5, 1926 at East Fork Mission. He was confirmed on May 14, 1939 at St. John Lutheran Church, Waterloo, WI. By the grace of God in Jesus Christ, he entered the kingdom of glory passing from this life at age 85 on August 31, 2012 in Fond du Lac, WI. He died peacefully at home with family at his side. Paul grew up in Rockford, MN and Waterloo, WI. He graduated from Northwestern Prep, Watertown, WI in 1944; Northwestern College, Watertown, WI, in 1948; and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, WI, in 1952. He married Carol Jean Solsrud on June 13, 1953, at Sherman Park Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. The Lord blessed them with eight children, Stephen, Laura (Becker), Andrew, Thomas, Joel, Kristine (Cherney), Karla (Wolff), and Paul David. Pastor Nitz served parishes in Tacoma, Milwaukee, and La Crosse. He served as professor of Old Testament and Pastoral Theology at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, WI, from 1974 "“ 1997. He is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and two grandsons. Paul is survived by his wife, eight children, 31 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, one brother, and many nieces and nephews. Paul and Carol Nitz retired to Fond du Lac, WI, where they joined Faith Lutheran Church.



The visitation will be from 3 "“ 5 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, 55 N. Prairie Road, Fond du Lac. The funeral service will take place at 5 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Haugly officiating. Private burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Plymouth, WI. Memorial gifts may be made to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary or Martin Luther College.
