Paul R. Buchner, 82, of Fond du Lac, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Crossroads Care Center. He was born in Manitowoc on September 26, 1939, to Joseph and Lorraine (Dubey) Buchner. In 1957, Paul joined the US Navy, serving until 1960. On August 19, 1961, he married Sandra L. Hronek in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2015.

In 1967, Paul moved his family to Fond du Lac for his job at Mercury Marine. He retired in 2002 having worked there 34 years. In 2004, Paul came out of retirement and began working at Badger State Auto Auction where he would drive vehicles for the next 7 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his favorite place: up north on his ten wooded acres. While there, Paul would always say, “life doesn’t get any better than this.” He was also a member of Eagles Aerie #270 for the previous 17 years.

(Kelly) Rentmeister, Jacob and Benjamin Soll; five “honorary” great-grandchildren, Logan, Isabella, and Landon Buelow and Lily and Holly Rentmeister; a sister, Sandra (Frank) Demell; and a brother, Thomas (Cathy) Buchner. In addition, he is survived by nieces, nephews, other family, and friends, including his special friends from breakfast at Boda’s and his card club; as well as his special friends from up north, Dick (Barb) Guerts and Ken (Mary) Bernarde.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a sister and two brothers; a step great-grandson, Dakota Goldapske; and special friend Jack Guell, who loved to go up north with him.
