Paul R. Waskow, 80, of North Fond du Lac, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born November 12, 1935 in West Union, IA, the son of LeRoy and Herta Koelber Waskow. His mother died while he was a young boy and his father remarried Gerda Hock who raised him as her own. On November 12, 1986 he married Margaret M. Steinmetz in Fond du Lac and she preceded him in death on August 21, 2013. Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Mercury Marine for many years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of American Legion Post 210 and Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie #270. Paul enjoyed gardening, traveling, casino bus trips, fishing, John Wayne movies, and most of all loved his wife.
He is survived by three children, Michael (Susan) Waskow of Lebanon, Cherise (Thomas) Kruger of Markesan, and DeAnna (Jim) Altwies of Waukesha; two step children, Jim (Kathy) Hall of North Fond du Lac and David Hall of Pickett; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren. He is further survived by siblings, Delores (Harold) Burrack of Suring, Erwin Waskow of Topock, AZ, Lenore (Ray) Trachta of Green Acres, WA, Marlene (Dick) Bucholtz of Blaine, MN and Dennis (Cindy) Waskow of Manchester, IA; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Gerda; his wife, Margaret; one son, David Waskow; one granddaughter, Megan Waskow and one brother, Ronnie Waskow.
The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will take place Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:00 am in Rosendale Cemetery, Rosendale.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home for their care and compassion given to Paul and his family during this time.
