Philip F. Gustafson

June 8, 1938 — April 21, 2015

Philip Francis Gustafson, 75, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2015. He was born on June 8, 1938 and grew up in the Fond du Lac area all his life. Philip married Barbara Jean Pickart on November 13, 1965 at St. Patrick’s Church in Fond du Lac. Philip served in the US Army in the 60’s. He was employed by G&L Davis Division and Gateway Transportation, the Handivans for FDL County and The Fond du Lac Reporter.



Phil and Barb celebrated 49 years of marriage. Phil is survived by his loving wife, Barb; his two brothers, Eli (Barbara) Gustafson and Thomas (Marie) Gustafson; his mother-in-Law, Elsie Pickart; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Joyce) Pickart, Linda Pickart, Carol (Arnie) Albertz, Lori Pickart, Steven (Annie) Pickart, Julie (George) Riese, David (Kay) Pickart all of Fond du Lac. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.



He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eli and Dolores Gustafson; his father- in-law Clifford Pickart; his brother, Robert Gustafson; and his sister-in-law, Marie Pickart; and maternal and paternal grandparents. He is further preceded in death by his wonderful canine companions, Buddy and Codyjo.



Philip was a past president and active member of the Eagles Aerie #270 and a member of American Legion of Fond du Lac. He also enjoyed going the Eagles Club and meeting with his buddies at the table (inside and out) at Ma & Pas (Korneli’s) on Main Street every morning solving the problems of the world. He also enjoyed the 23 years of camping at Tilleda Campgrounds in the village of Tilleda, Wisconsin.



A special thank you to the staff of St Agnes in the Emergency Room, ICU department and the fourth floor for their sincere compassion and help to Barb and family members during the last few days of Phil’s life. Special thanks to the staff of Manor Care where Phil was residing since September of 2014. A special thanks from Barb to Phil’s brothers, Eli and Tom and her family for being with her during the last days of Phil’s life. It meant a lot to her.



There will be no visitation according to Phil’s wishes. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service/party will be held at the Eagles Club on May 9, 2015 starting at 2:00 p.m.
