Phyllis C. Mathews, 76, of Oakfield, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, after a six-month battle with cancer. She was born December 7, 1932 in Princeton, WI the daughter of Stanley P. and Clara L. Nowacki Frost. On May 24, 1952 she married James R. Mathews Sr. at St. John's Catholic Church in Princeton, WI. She attended and graduated from Princeton High School in 1951. Phyllis worked at Infants Soxs for ten years and then at Mercury Marine as an inspector and machine operator for 20 years where she retired in 1992. Phyllis was a very loving wife and mother that enjoyed family get togethers. She enjoyed all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved big gatherings for holidays with all her family and friends. Phyllis also enjoyed spending time outside watching the birds and other wildlife in her yard and going on bus trips with her close friends and family.SURVIVORS: Phyllis is survived by her husband of 56 years, James, Sr. of Oakfield; two daughters, Barbara (Gary) Stephany of Waukesha and Donna (Chuck) Merwin of Oakfield; one son, James, Jr. (Michele) Mathews of Oakfield; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. She is further survived by one brother, Donald (Fern) Frost of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Irene Mosolf, Alyce Yost, Delphine Kartos, Joyce Nowland; six brothers, William Frost, Raymond Frost, Alex Frost, Edward Frost, Bernard Frost, Leonard Frost.
VISITATION: will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again from 9-10 AM on Friday at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum. The Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery with Deacon Larry Hughes officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.Wife, Mom, Grandmother, you will be missed dearly, you are the core of our family, we will love you forever and will be in our thoughts and prayers.
