Phyllis Joan Koenigs, 57, died peacefully, Friday, March 21, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Fond du Lac with her family at her side.Phyllis was born June 24, 1950, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Hugo and Ann Steffes Koenigs. She attended school for many years in Calumet County. She enjoyed painting, music, making potholders and working on latch hook rugs. She loved to go swimming and camping.While living on the family farm near Marytown, Phyllis enjoyed helping in the kitchen and garden. She enjoyed spending time with nieces and nephews who spent time visiting the farm.Phyllis was employed at New Hope Center in Chilton, and later at Brooke Industries in Fond du Lac. She enjoyed the freedom of living at the ARC group home, and especially enjoyed participating in the dancing and sporting activities available to her. She was especially proud of her medals she received while participating in Special Olympics activities.Her mother Ann Koenigs of Chilton and 13 brothers and sisters survive Phyllis. Her siblings include six brothers, Anthony (Loretta) Koenigs of Fond du Lac, Laurence (Jean) Koenigs of Hilbert, Daniel (Donna) Koenigs of Plymouth, Nicholas (Anne) Koenigs of Douglas, WY, Matthew (Nancy) Koenigs of Kiel, and Patrick (Karen) Koenigs of Chilton; seven sisters, Kathleen (Ronald) Rabe of Kiel, Mary Ann (Lawrence) Sinclair of Waukesha, Helene (Fred) Parise of Cook, NE, Cecilia (Robert) St. Lawrence of Fond du Lac, Grace (Larry) Hanke of Chilton, Christine (Ronald) Schwenck of Calumetville, and Rosalie Koenigs of Ripon.Phyllis is further survived by 42 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, and two great-great nephews; aunts and uncles; and special friends.Her father, one niece, aunts and uncles, and her loving Godparents Hildegarde Steffes and Gregor Thome preceded her in death.
VISITATION: Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marytown. FUNERAL: Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 12 noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marytown, with the Reverend Joseph Coerber officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional services. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phyllis's name may be directed to the ARC, located at 500 N.
