Ralph R. Zimmer, age 86, of North Fond du Lac, died Sunday, March 27, 2022, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on September 12, 1935, in Greenleaf, WI, the son of Anthony and Magdalen (Petrie) Zimmer. Ralph met Ann Kathryn Meister working at a shoe factory. She was attracted to him by his curly hair and his red shirt. They married on August 20, 1960, in Maplewood, WI. They were married 57 years until Ann’s death in 2017.
Ralph worked at Sturgeon Bay Shipyards and Chicago Northwestern Railroad. A working hobby Ralph enjoyed was trapping in Horicon Marsh and around Algoma. He also sold corn and was known as the “Corn King”, and sold deer hides. Ralph enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed playing cherry master gaming devices and reading. He was a member of Holy Family Parish.
Survivors include four children, Sally (David) Hilt, Lee (Amy) Zimmer, Theresa (Dan) Burgert, and Laura (Chris) Galow; four grandchildren, Josh (Sarah) Zimmer, Elizabeth Hilt, Ben Zimmer, and Michael Hilt; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Leo Zimmer; lifelong friends, Denny Krumbein and Pete Melchior; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Waiting for Ralph in his heavenly home are his parents; his wife, his brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eldorado, WI.
