Ray C. Blackburn, 91, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010. He was born in Ripon on March 10, 1919, the son of Oscar M. and Frances P. (Bump) Blackburn. Ray was a graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Air Corps, from 1940-45. On May 10, 1946, he married Mary C. Fritz at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church. Ray was a self-employed flooring installer for over 40 years. He retired in 1982. He was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and as president of the congregation. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Exchange Club for over 40 years and served as president. Ray liked hunting, canoeing, golfing, woodworking, card playing and traveling, but most of all he enjoyed his family and friends.SURVIVORS: Ray is survived by his wife, Mary, of Fond du Lac; three daughters: Carol (Scott) Wilson, West Des Moines, Iowa; Connie Doern, Urbandale, Iowa; Linda (Duane) Kramer, Appleton, WI; a son, Bruce (Eileen) Blackburn, Fond du Lac; six grandchildren: Colin Wilson, Jeremy (Camille) Wilson, Meghan Wilson, Kerry (Joe) Scherer, Amanda and Justin Blackburn; and three great granddaughters: Olivia, Aubrey, and Ellen. Ray is also survived by a brother, Jerry Blackburn, and a sister, Marian (John) Schneider, both of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Ronald, James, and Lynn.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 4 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and on Saturday from 12:00 PM to the time of services. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at All Faiths Mausoleum at Rienzi Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Hope.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
