Raymond E. HoepfnerRaymond E. Hoepfner, 80, of 155 E. Arndt Street, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 30, 1924, in Fond du Lac, a son of William C. and Marguerita Burg Hoepfner. On June 25, 1949, he married Genevieve "Geno" Kwaterski at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Green Bay. Ray was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Patrick's Church. He was a veteran of WW II, serving with the 42nd Rainbow Division in European Theatre from 1943 to 1946, where he received two Purple Hearts. He obtained the Expert Marksman badge. Ray was employed as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker working at Tobin Tool and Die for 27 years, and 21 years at Mercury Marine as a research and development machinist. Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #664. He was active with his sons in the Cub and Boy Scouts at St. Patrick's Church. Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and was always ready with a quick joke or a story. He loved to listen and dance to polka and waltz music. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially spending time with his 29 grandchildren. Surviving Ray is his devoted wife, Geno, of 55 years, and his fourteen children. Robert (Denise) Hoepfner of Fond du Lac, and their children, Benjamin, and Ann. Patricia Hoepfner of Fond du Lac. Charles (Sharon) Hoepfner of North Fond du Lac, and their children, Nicholas, Kimberly, and Jacob. Louise (John) Elsasser of Ft. Wayne, IN, and their children, Eric, Meghan, Emily, and Luke. Daniel "Huey" (Wendy) Hoepfner of Fond du Lac. Marguerite "Peggy" (Ken) Malson of Fond du Lac. Jeanne (Paul) Schneider of Fond du Lac, and their children Karlie and Daniel. Amy (Jeff) Wilcox of Fond du Lac, and their children Joseph and Dominic Belisle. Anthony (Sharon) Hoepfner of Fond du Lac, and their children McKenzie, Steven, and Grant. Thomas (Ann) Hoepfner of Fond du Lac, and their children Sarah, Zachary, Alexander, and Andrew. Lynn (Jay) Dux of Fond du Lac, and their daughter, Jenna. James (Patty) Hoepfner of Fond du Lac, and their daughter Rachel Leitz, and a sister, Virginia Halfmann of Fond du Lac. Many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins survive Ray. Preceding him in death were his parents, a son-law, Steven Belisle, two brothers, Julius and Auburn, a sister, Sylvia Cole, two sisters-in-law, Philomine and Brigetta, and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Cole and Erwin Halfmann.
Visitation for Mr. Raymond E. Hoepfner will be on Friday, November 5, 2004, from 2 to 7 pm with a prayer vigil at 7 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Saturday, November 6, 2004, from noon to 1:30 pm at St. Patrick's Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 6, 2004, at 1:30 pm at the church. The Rev. John Radetski will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. Members of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct graveside military rites.
