Raymond J. (Rock) Morgan, 86 of Fond du Lac, died Nov. 25, 2010 after a head injury. Rock was born in Waverly, IA. on Oct. 23, 1924, the son of the late James and Deva Morgan.Rock grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa. He went to Marshalltown High, continuing his education at Iowa State University. Rock joined the Army Air Force in 1943 and trained at Childress, Texas. then attended Officers training and was later assigned to the 98th Bomb Group serving in Italy. He continued to serve as a Reserve Officer, being called to serve in the Korean conflict. Rock retired as Major in the United States Air Force in 1983. Rock began his college journey at the University of Chattanooga, a master degree at the University of Pittsburg. He began work with Sears as Department and Assistant Manager. Sears transferred him to Fond du Lac, in 1965. After retirement he worked part time for Kitt & Pfeil hardware store for 17 years. Rock has been a member of the Presbyterian Church for 57 years, having joined in Beaverton, OR. He served as trustee, Ordained Elder and active usher. He is a life member of the Elks Lodge No. 57 BPOE and more than fifty-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 26. F. & A.M. He was active in ROA of Wisconsin.Survivors: Rock was a loving husband of Alma 'Jean' Bowen Morgan for 66 years; the father of Jeanette (Russ) Pont, Cynthia (David) Boudry, Janice Pilkenton (John) and Rod Morgan (deceased). His joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tracey (Taylor) Schrieber, Tammy Boudry, April (Michael) Stolte, Morgan (Beth) Pilkenton, Michaela Pilkenton, Timothy Pont, Andrea (Dan) Crossman, Chris Pont; and great grandchildren, Ally, Casey, Joseph Schrieber, Cody Pont, Evan, Grace Stolte, Isabelle Crossman.Rock is further survived by one brother, Robert (Marlene) Morgan, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: the family will be pleased to visit with friends before the service from 9 to 11 a.m.Saturday Dec. 4, at First Presbyterian Church, 1225 Fourth Street, and Fond du Lac.Services: the memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday Dec. 4, 2010 at First Prebyterian Church, Fond du Lac.Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Church/World Mission, Microloan Partnership or Hospice Hope.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
