Raymond W. Zwicky, 88, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at St. Francis Home, after a brief illness complicated by kidney failure. He was born May 11, 1922, in Fond du Lac, the son of Fred J. and Lois Hansen Zwicky. He was a 1940 graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School. Ray was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the South Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945. He was baptized, confirmed, and a very active member of Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church. On January 27, 1951 he was married to Jean Guenther at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. Fred Landeck. From 1946 to 1963, he was a cost accountant for Northern Casket of Fond du Lac. In 1963 he joined Guenther Supply Incorporated and in 1972 became its President until his retirement in 1990. Ray was a senior member of Lakeside Evening Kiwanis, a past President, past Secretary, and Hixon Award recipient. He was a Life member of Elks Lodge #57. He was a faithful Packers and Brewers fan and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and model railroading. Ray was a loving husband, generous father and grandfather who always put the welfare of his family, friends and employees above himself. Surviving is his wife, Jean, his children, Jeffrey A. (Deb) Zwicky, Karen R. (Dan) Kraus, Kim M. (Jeff) Ayars, and Robert G. (Jenny) Zwicky, all of Fond du Lac, five grandchildren, David A. Zwicky, Matthew (Sarah) Rauls, James A. (Fiance' Jen Murray) Zwicky, Hannah J. Zwicky, and Hailey D. Zwicky, and two great-grandsons, Connor and Lennon Rauls. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. His parents, three sisters, Irene Kranig Wettstein, Ida Heyde, Flora Baatz, and three brothers, Fred Zwicky, Jr., Donald Zwicky, and Albert Zwicky preceded him in death
Visitation for Raymond W. Zwicky will be on Saturday, January 22, 2011, from 10 AM to 1:00 PM at Immanuel Trinity, 20 Wisconsin American Drive, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at the church on Saturday. The Rev. Shari Routh will officiate and entombment will be in the All Faiths Chapel and Mausoleum, Rienzi Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Raymond's name.
