Richard D. “Dick” Blumke, age 79, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, January 14, 2023, at his residence. He was born on June 15, 1943, in Fond du Lac, the son of Raymond and Joan (Atkins) Blumke. Richard was confirmed by Pastor Paul Piotter at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He served four years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Saratoga, as a fireman.
Richard worked at Mercury Marine in the assembly area for over forty years until his retirement. He enjoyed shooting pool at Brownie’s Bar and playing softball in FdL’s leagues. He loved taking road trips, especially off road, all while capturing his adventures on camera, documenting the pictures in several photo albums. Richard also kept busy with special woodworking projects, a trade his dad taught him.
Richard is survived by his brother, John (Mary); his sister, Rebecca (Eric) Fryer; sister-in-law, Phyllis Blumke; nieces, Sarah (Kevin) Britton, Elena Fryer, Dawn Swim, Deborah Ramirez; and nephew, Matthew Fryer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James; and aunts and uncles.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 12 noon until 2:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 2:00 PM. Cremation has taken place. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Military graveside honors will take place at the funeral home following the service.
