Richard E. "Dick" HardgroveRichard E. "Dick" Hardgrove, 74, of 619 Western Avenue, died Friday, September 9, 2005, at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with melanoma. He was born May 2, 1931, in Fond du Lac, a son of John D. and Eunice Roberts Hardgrove. Mr. Hardgrove was a 1949 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. On February 13, 1954, he married Joan I. Koenig in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on November 18, 1992. He later married Faye E. Wood Jiricka on September 17, 1994, in Fond du Lac. Dick served as a Fond du Lac County Police Officer from 1959 until his retirement in 1990, and was a member of the Wisconsin Policemen's Association. Dick was also a security officer at Forest Mall for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951 to 1953 in the United States Marines as a Sergeant. He was an active bowler, golfer, fisherman, Packer fan, and camper. He was recognized for over 50 years of participation in the Tuesday City Bowling League. Surviving is his wife, Faye, two sons; John (Carol) Hardgrove of N. St. Paul, MN, and Michael (Katherine) Hardgrove of Fond du Lac, a daughter, Kathleen (John) Rosenfeldt of Fond du Lac. Seven grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew Hardgrove of N. St. Paul, MN, Adam Hardgrove of Kennewick, WA, Benjamin (Terri) Hardgrove of Fond du Lac, and Elizabeth Hardgrove of Fond du Lac, Jenna and Krista Rosenfeldt, both of Fond du Lac, two step-sons, Hal Jiricka of Longmont, CO, and Mark Jiricka of North Fond du Lac, a step-daughter, Sally Jiricka of Portage, WI, one brother, Stephen (Sue) Hardgrove of Fond du Lac, one sister, Sandra Davies of Fond du Lac. His parents, first wife, an infant daughter, Sharon, and an infant brother, John "Jack" D. Hardgrove and one brother-in-law Raymond 'Corby' Davies preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Richard E. "Dick" Hardgrove will be on Tuesday, September 13, 2005, from 4 to 8 pm, and on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 am at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word for Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at 10:30 am at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The Rev. Patrick Heppe of Holy Family Parish will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Agnes Hospice Hope.
