Richard “Dickie” H. Bertram, 75, of St. Peter, died Thursday, July 8, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born January 9, 1946 in Fond du Lac, the son of Alois and Marie (Pitzen) Bertram. On November 25, 1967 he married Mary Anne Gundert at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter.
Richard served two years in the US Army National Guard, worked 13 years for Mercury Marine and 20 years as an Operating Engineer for Northeast Asphalt. He grew up on the family dairy farm which he eventually took over and spent the rest of his days with hopes of keeping the farm in the family for his grandchildren. While farming was challenging at times; it was his life passion. He was a member of East Shore Conservation Club and St. Peter Athletic Club. Richard enjoyed farming, watching the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers, riding his Gator, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne; three children, Douglas Bertram, Shelly Bertram, and Jeff (Kristen) Bertram, all of St. Peter; three grandsons, Jacob, Isaac, and Derek; and Joe Mand who was like a son to Richard. He is further survived by his siblings, Bob (Mary) Bertram of Adrian, MI, Agnes (John) Schmitz of St. Joe, and Adrian (Nancy) Bertram of St. Cloud; in laws, Carol (Lyle) Birschbach, Jack (Karen) Gundert and Junior (Tracy) Gundert; his dog, Benny; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Marcie Gundert.
The visitation will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, N8079 Church Road, Malone, WI. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow the Mass in St. Peter Cemetery.
