Richard Vernon Syms (Rick) April 21, 1950 to June 12, 2023 “Forever Young”.
Rick passed away suddenly at his home due to health complications on June 12, 2023. Rick was born April 21, 1950, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to parents James and June Syms. Rick graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1968. In his junior high and high school years, he was a tri-state championship diver, and a proud team member of the Fond du Lac “swim team”. He served the U.S. Army from 1969-1971. He relocated to Boulder, Colorado after high school and returned to Boulder upon completion and honorable discharge of his military service. He discovered his occupational career early in life as a Master Plumber who grew his expertise to become a highly regarded commercial plumber. Rick trained many apprentices over the years and thought it was an honor to do so. He was a teacher at heart and shared his love of the industry to his apprentices. He referred to himself as a drain surgeon. Such a Dad joke! Fate brought him back to Wisconsin where he met and married the love of his life, Sandra Beusch. They married on November 4, 1983, at Covenant United Methodist Church, Fond du Lac, WI.
Rick is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandy, their daughter, Danyel (Scott) Syms-Foster; bonus sons, Brad (Jennifer) Schibline; Brian (Michelle) Schibline; Amy Syms; Coree (Eric) VanTheil; his siblings, Lawrence (Butch) Syms of Boulder CO; Frederick (Fred) Syms of Nevada:; Nancy (Dennis) Blagg, Nevada; Mike (Dianne) Syms Wisconsin. Lovely, talented grandchildren, Jade, Emily, Mason, Laila, Jace, Bethany, Connor, Kevin, Miles, Carson, Violet, and Eleanor; great- grandchildren, Zoey and Dustin Jr (DJ). Rick was also blessed with lovely nieces and nephews; the love and acceptance of the entire Beusch-Tikkanen family: Mother-In-Law, Shirley Beusch; Cheryl (Keith) Bossenbroek; Roger (Joanie) Beusch; Ruth (Gerrard) significant friend) Ponder; Julie (Chuck) Schneider.
Waiting in heaven to greet him are his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; sister Darlene Syms (Stazba); father-in-law, Jerry Beusch; multitudes of aunts and uncles and pets. Rick is now forever young and is at rest. He will patiently wait on his wife as he often did to join him.
