Robert Darrel Lange, age 78, of Fond du Lac, passed away Monday, October 09, 2017. He was born on March 30, 1939, in Fond du Lac, the son of Arnold and Myrtle (Streeter) Lange. On September 26, 1959, he married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart Carol Jean Manske.

After leaving the Navy, Bob went to work at G & L for over forty years until retiring. Bob’s favorite place on earth was his cottage on Lost Lake near St. Germain. He enjoyed hunting and was a fishing enthusiast. He loved the hunt of the musky. Bob was known by his fishing compadres as the “chinook of the north.” Bob loved animals especially his dogs over the years, Cocoa, Peaches, Brandy, Toby, and Abby. He loved riding his bike, walking at Moraine Park, and enjoyed going to watch Fond du Lac softball at Lakeside Park for many years.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Carol Jean Lange; his son, Michael Lange and his children, Sadie and Shelby; his daughter, Judine Lange and her children, Jacob and Tara; his daughter, Susan (Jeff Furlong) Lange and her children, Ashley and Tony; two great-grandchildren, Nicquel and Prince; sister, Sharon (Tom) Soukup; sisters-in-law, Phylis Lange, Janet (Dallas) Wigton, Joan (Bob) Blum, Marlene (Lew) Loberger; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Lange, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Viola Manske; brothers-in-law, Harold (Donna) Manske, and Jerry Wigton; sister-in-law, Mary (Ken) Rentmeister.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers or memorials, please donate to a charity of your choice in Bob’s memory.

Dad, you will be missed, but we will always remember how blessed we are that you’re our dad.

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set on me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a free soul? Miss me a little. But not too long and not with your head bowed down. Remember the love that we once shared, miss me but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. It’s all part of the master’s plan, a step on the road back home.
