Robert E. Riggs

Robert E. Riggs, age 86, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born on July 31, 1930 in Elmira Township, MI, the son of James and Edith (Pettengill) Riggs. Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 20, 1952 he married Elizabeth Jane Kohlmann at St. Joseph’s Rectory in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on February 25, 1980. Robert was a truck driver for forty-four years working for numerous companies. He enjoyed bowling, playing cribbage, playing sheepshead and other card games, shooting pool, and he was forever a Chicago Cubs fan.



Survivors include seven children, Barbara (Patrick) Collins of Fond du Lac, Gerald (Leslie) Riggs of Appleton, Beverly (Dave) Witting of Beloit, Charles Riggs of Fond du Lac, Jeffrey Riggs of Fond du Lac, Daniel (Maria) Riggs of Wildomar, CA, Nancy Voss of Oshkosh; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; his siblings, Jean Nelson and Anita Priest of MI, Donald Riggs, Melvin (Shirley) Riggs, and Ronald (Dianne) Riggs all of Fond du Lac; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth; his siblings, Gordon Riggs, James Riggs Jr, Roger Riggs, Katherine Riggs, Helen Klumpyan, and Alice Lorenz.



Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
