Robert (Bob) F. Holzman passed away on March 14, 2011 at the age of 87. He was born on November 7, 1923 in Fond du Lac, the son of Henry and Della Kramer Holzman. Robert was a veteran of WWII, enlisting in the Army Air Corps on his 19th birthday. He attended Military Police training after basic training, and was sent to Robin Air Force Base in Georgia. On his first furlough in September of 1943, he married Anna Kruck, his long time sweetheart. After their marriage, Anna went with him from base to base until he was sent overseas to the island of Guam in the South Pacific, where he served until the end of the war.After being discharged in January of 1946, he went to work for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad, where he worked for 35 years, first as a locomotive fireman and for the last 17 years as an engineer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.Survivors include daughters Sherry (Howie) Freiberg, Carole Vick, Penny (Robert) Lamb, Gerianne (Rob Zimmerman) Holzman, and son Robert (Becky) Holzman. Bob is also survived by his sister, Alberta Mangan, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his special friend and companion, Joan Behlke.Preceding him in death were his wife in February of 1989, two brothers, Elmer and Herbert Holzman, a sister, Lorelda Betker, and his parents.
Visitation: Friends may call on Thursday March 17, 2011 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the Uecker-Witt funeral home. Funeral: Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:30 AM at the funeral home with Deacon Paul Monzel officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
