Robert Gerhardt Krebs, 75, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning, August 18, 2013. He had a very gentle nature and was always very kind and generous to everyone he met. He was a devoted family man. Robert consistently put his family and friends' needs above his own and took tremendous pride in his family's accomplishments. He worked hard for many years to provide a happy home in which to raise his family.Robert grew up in Chicago and loved the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. His passions have always been traveling, model railroading, stock car racing and classic cars. He has lived in Fond du Lac since 1964 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post #75. He is a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Saputo Cheese after 41 years. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl; his daughter, Amy (Krebs) Holmes and her husband Nick of Woodbury, MN; his son, Aaron Krebs and his wife Lynn of Madison, WI. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Lily, Julia, Mason, Ella and Andrew; and seven brothers and sisters, Glen, Steven, Randall, Sandy, Douglas, Marcia and Kurt and one aunt Elizabeth Phillip. He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores and stepfather, Albert Leitz; his father, Kurt Krebs; and a sister, Linda.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM "“ 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 1225 4th Street, Fond du Lac. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jack Harrison officiating. Cremation has taken place and private inurnment will be held in Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago, IL.Because of his pride in his military service and his commitment to his church and in the spirit of Robert's selfless nature, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund (www.fdlpresbyterian.org).Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
