Robert J. “Bob” Downs, 65, died Sunday, May 24, 2020 at his home in Fond du Lac. He was born in Oshkosh on December 19, 1954 to Neal and Barbara (Meyer) Downs and grew up in Pickett and Menasha. On June 24, 1996, Bob married Julie Finseth in Neenah.
After high school, Bob lived in Neenah, Colorado, and Ohio, eventually moving to Fond du Lac to take a job with Action Printing as a Maintenance & Facilities Manager for ten years.
Bob enjoyed doing so much. From traveling, golf, and hiking to boating, dancing and good food. He belonged to Twin City Bushwackers 4-wheel Drive Club alongside his friends and family. Bob helped others in need for many years as a handyman.
Bob lost his battle with cancer with Julie lovingly by his side never giving up hope. As a legacy, he wanted to be remembered as being good and kind to everyone, wanting others to like him, and for his love and willingness to help others in any way possible. That simple. Bob was always doing the right thing. He was respectful, dependable, fun, had a great laugh and sense of humor. Bob was also smart, always able to cheer anyone up, a hard worker and always went above and beyond. Everyone loved his awesome hugs. Bob was just a great guy. He was and still is a true treasure.
Bob is survived by his wife, Julie; one son, Bradley Downs of Scottsdale, AZ; six siblings, Jerry (Carol) Downs of Berlin, Janice Peterson of Neenah, David (Joyce) Downs of Neenah, Linda Jarosinski of Appleton, Diane (Gene) Schabo of Appleton and Faith (Jeff) Quick of Larsen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place.
Bob is missed by so many family, friends, and co-workers. We will always love, remember, and miss him. We will never let go.
Love and Light. God Speed.
