Robert J. "Bob The Bagger" Smet

Robert J. "Bob The Bagger" Smet passed away March 31, 2015 at Harbor Haven in Fond du Lac. Bob was born May 18, 1945 to Joseph and Lorraine (Erickson) Smet in Fond du Lac. He graduated in 1964 from St. Mary Springs Academy and still keeps in touch with his former classmates. On September 17, 1966 he married Nancy Michalack at Sacred Heart Church in FDL. Bob worked at Mercury Marine for 42 years, retiring in 2007.

After retirement he very happily went to work at Festival Foods in 2007 as "Bob The Bagger", he loved his customers and they loved him, they even visited him while he was ill.

Bob was a member of FDL Eagles Aires #270, member of The Fond du Lac Taylor Park and Pool, Inc. and member of the NRA. Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren; they were so special in his heart. He had a real passion for golf which he couldn't do much the last year and missed it a lot, his other special interest was The Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers, never missed a game. A very important part of both Bob and Nancy's life were our friends, especially the swim group at the Aquatic Center.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 48 years, a son, Joseph Smet and his most precious daughter Kerri Ann (Chris) Hahn of Waupun, grandsons, Devin Hahn, Mychael Hahn of Waupun, Daniel Ward of Monroe and granddaughter Jenelle Ward of Monroe. He also leaves behind 3 sisters, Sue (Dick) Pontzloff of Appleton, Kathy (Bill) Kellett of Oshkosh and Mary Jo (Don) Asmus of Prescott, WI. He also leaves behind many wonderful family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lorraine Smet, mother & father-in-law Vernice & Frank Michalack, special cousins, aunts, uncles and his very special friend "Doogie".



VISITATION: Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until 12 noon at Sacred Heart Church-Holy Family, 200 S. Peters Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 noon at the church. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

We want to thank all our family and friends for their visits, prayers and calls. We also wish to thank St. Agnes Hospital 5th floor and 6th floor TCU and ICU, wound specialist for all their special care the last 6 months and a special thanks to the great staff at Harbor Haven for going above and beyond the call of duty to be so loving to make Bob comfortable and happy.
