Robert J. "Bob" Thill, 86, formerly of Fond du Lac and currently a resident of Ivy Manor, Campbellsport, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008. He was born the son of Harvey and Edna Noll Thill on June 5, 1922 in Oakfield. He grew up on the family farm in Oakfield. On November 15, 1941 he married Lorraine D. Norenberg in Fond du Lac. He was a member of Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. Bob worked for Fred Rueping Leather Company, retiring in 1984. Bob was a veteran of the US Army during World War II, where he served in several countries including Belgium and France where he drove truck in the "Red Ball Express" which delivered gasoline and other supplies to the troops after the French railway system had been destroyed. He enjoyed his cottage in Wautoma, fishing, gardening, woodworking, polka music, and loved spending time with family and friends. SURVIVORS: his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Beverly (Alex) Iloncaie, Campbellsport, Barbara (Alan) Fogle, Centerville, IA; five grandchildren, Kim (Dave) Goldsmith, Scott (Jane) Iloncaie, Troy (Tammy) Iloncaie, Steve (Leona) Fogle, Michelle (Mike) Moore; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Franke, Oakfield, Judy (Ray) Ballwanz, Oshkosh; two brothers, Eugene (Barb) Thill, Fond du Lac, Larry Thill. He is further survived by six sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Thill, Oakfield, Ona Thill, Fond du Lac, Sally (Roger) Curtis, Columbus, WI, Patsy Lefeber, Fond du Lac, Janet Norenberg, Fond du Lac, Jean Norenberg, Fond du Lac; one brother-in-law, Jerry Norenberg, Fond du Lac; many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rose (Forest) Pixley, Ruth Rausch; two brothers, Bill Thill, Raymond Thill; four sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Edgar) LaFrancois, Betty Zwicky, Betty Norenberg, Kate Norenberg; six brothers-in-law, Earl, Eugene, Dale, Randy, Don Norenberg and Oscar Franke.
VISITATION: will be from 11 AM "“ 2 PM on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Church of Peace, Fond du Lac. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Monday at the church with Rev. James F.D. Martin and Rev. Jennifer C.M. Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
