Bob Smet, 94, of Fond du Lac, passed away September 25, 2012 surrounded by family.Bob was born March 3, 1918 to August and Kathryn (Corrigan) Smet. He married Irene Osborn on June 21, 1947 at St. Patrick's Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1940 "“ 1945 during the European Theatre. Bob enjoyed fishing with his wife, friends or family when he had time off. If Bob wasn't fishing he was going down dead end roads looking for a new fishing hole. Bob also enjoyed visiting with the relatives. He worked most of his life for the City of Fond du Lac at the Public Water Works, and had also owned his own moving company up in Marinette, "Smet Movers". He was a member of Holy Family Parish.Bob will be sadly missed by his three daughters, Barbara (Bob) Smet-Lang, Fond du Lac, Joann Smet, Fond du Lac, and Mary Smet (John Malorzo), Pacheco, CA; two sons, Patrick Smet, Fond du Lac, and Kenneth Smet, Maribel, WI; three grandchildren, Charlie Smet, Fond du Lac, John Smet, Madison, and Dena Smet (Josh Rauls), Fond du Lac; one brother, Gilbert Smet, Fond du Lac; five sisters-in-law, Georgene Smet, Dorothy Scherer, Kathy Osborn, Jeanette Kruchoski, and Lila Brown; one brother-in-law, Eugene (Alice) Osborn; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will also miss him. Preceding him in death was his parents; his loving wife, Irene; one son, Tom; brothers, Harold (Norma) Smet, Justin (Jean) Smet, and Delbert Smet; sisters, Dorothy Smet and Kathryn (Carl) Goron; his mother and father-in-law, Josephine and Charles Osborn; sister-in-law, Cynthia Jean Smet; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Osborn, Donald Osborn, Louis Brown and Gene Kruchoski; and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: will be from 1 "“ 4 PM on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Holy Family Parish, 271 4th Street Way. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4 PM on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Holy Family Parish.
