Robert C. Lang

Robert Carl Lang, 73, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at SSM Health – Hospice Home of Hope. He was born on August 22, 1951, in Fond du Lac, the son of Robert H. and Helen (Fiebig) Lang. On May 1, 1971, he married Mary J. Francis at St. Joseph Church in Fond du Lac. They were married for 37 years until her passing on February 24, 2009.

Bob’s first job was working in the produce department at Kroger Grocery store and eventually moved to Mercury Marine, where he worked for 39 years as a die caster and set up crib attendant in Plant 17. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his buddies. Bob was often the cook in the group. He was an avid Packer fan and participated in some of the local pools to bet on the scores of the game. Bob tried his luck on lottery tickets as well as taking trips to the casino. 

Bob and Mary had two daughters. Bob’s greatest joy came from the times spent with his granddaughter, Alli and grandson, Howie Grossman. It was important to him to support them in many ways. Bob always made time to watch Alli show her horses and to attend Howie’s baseball and football games. 

Bob leaves behind his two daughters, Christine (Tom) Lapine and Julie (Shawn) Grossman; stepmom, Barbara Smet-Lang; brother, Mark Lang; sister, Stephanie (Bob) Thurk; brother-in-law, John “Jack” Francis; special cousin, Carol Miritz; niece, Amy (Rob) Helminiak and her daughter, Addison Helminiak; and nephew, Joe Thurk. Bob will also be remembered by additional family and friends, especially by his best friends Bob and Debbie Toth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen; wife, Mary; father and mother-in-law, Warren and Lucille Francis; and brother-in-law, Tom Francis. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Fond du Lac Eagle’s Club, 515 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac. Cremation has taken place. 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice Home of Hope for their compassionate care of Bob during his stay.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Fond du Lac Youth Sports or the Fond du Lac County 4-H Horse and Pony Project in Bob’s name.
