Robert R. Rudey

Robert "Big City Bob" R. Rudey, age 52, of 266 E. Follett St, Fond du Lac, was taken into Jesus' loving arms surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with oral cancer. He was born on January 29, 1952 in Beaver Dam the son of Arden and Bernice Hanefeld Rudey. On January 13, 1978 he married Nancy J. Tabbert at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He attended St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Grade School in Beaver Dam and was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Bob served in the United States Navy and worked for twenty-seven years at Taycheedah Correctional Institution as a correctional officer. He served as Union President in the WSEU and was active in union affairs. He was a member of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church and was active in bible studies. Bob was a member of Lighthouse Anglers Fishing Club, a charter member of WI Water Fowlers, Sturgeons for Tomorrow, and Walleyes for Tomorrow. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening flowers, and he was an avid Packer Fan. He also enjoyed spending time at his cabin by Eagle River and spending time with his devoted dogs Raven and Shaaly.SURVIVORS: his wife Nancy J. Rudey, of Fond du Lac, one brother, Richard (Dawn) Rudey of Horicon, father and mother in law, Lyle and Eunice Tabbert, sisters and brothers in law, Sharon (Cary) Eilertson of Eldorado, Kathy (Rueben) Ruch of Eldorado, Bill (Kay) Tabbert of Eldorado, Greg (Debbie) Tabbert of Fond du Lac, Beth (John) Hettwer of Fond du Lac, he is further survived by twenty-five nieces and nephews that were like children to Nancy and Bob and made him feel very proud. He is also survived by a daughter Roberta Dupois. He was preceded in death by his parents.



VISITATION: Monday, July 5, 2004 from 4-9 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church with the Reverend David Haugly and Reverend Joel Gaertner officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday at church from 9:30 A.M until the time of services. Burial will follow at Rosendale Cemetery. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside services. Wisconsin Corrections will be conducting an Honor Guard.He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones.In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated towards Winnebago Lutheran Academy or Faith Ev. Lutheran Church.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
