Robert W. "Bob" Anderson

June 17, 1925 — November 3, 2012

Robert Warren Anderson, 87, passed into his Heavenly Father's Arms on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac surrounded by his family. Robert was born on June 17, 1925, in Bluffton, Indiana, the son of Elmer and Trevena Anderson. Robert married the love of his life, Geraldine Freund, in Milwaukee, on April 28, 1945.After graduating from high school, Bob served in the Navy during W.W. II. He furthered his education at Indiana University receiving his BS in Science. Later he graduated from Ball State Teacher's College with an MS degree. Robert's passion was teaching Science to students. He started his teaching career in Hartford City, Indiana. Mr. Anderson was a long-time Wisconsin educator, first teaching at Roosevelt Junior High and then at Goodrich High School where he taught biology and an advanced biology seminar for 30 years. Robert enjoyed being a mentor for new teachers as he supervised over 25 student teachers. While at Goodrich, Bob was Chairman of the Science Department and Audio-Visual Department. He retired from teaching in 1987.Bob developed many talents and hobbies during his life. His favorite past-time was playing card games with his wife, family, and friends. He was a strong bridge player with a winning tradition. He was a passionate musician, playing the clarinet, piano and organ. He enjoyed collecting sheet music and performing for family and friends. One of his most joyful times was spending time with his grandchildren. All of them have wonderful memories of times spent with grandpa. Robert also enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. He visited all 50 states and traveled extensively in Canada, Mexico, and Europe.Robert was actively involved in his church and community. He served on the Parish Council at St. Louis Church, and was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Men's Club. He also participated as a Mass Greeter and substitute usher. Recently Bob was a member of the Holy Family Parish. Bob was Past Master and Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge 140 and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. Robert was Past-President of the FDL Education Association as well as Past President of the Exchange Club of FDL. As a proud Hoosier, he was a life member of the Indiana University Alumni Association.Robert is survived by his loving wife, Gerrie, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years. He is also survived by his children Linda (Thomas) Groh of Menasha; Lori (Daniel) Resheske, of Little Chute; and Larry of Horicon. There are 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The Anderson family is truly grateful for the professional and caring staff at the St Francis Home. They are also very appreciative of the excellent care provided by Dr. Sergi and his staff.



A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the St. Francis Home Chapel 33 Everett St. in FDL. Visitation will be from 9-10 A.M. The funeral service will be from 10-11 A.M.
