Roderick D. L. Minkin

Roderick David Leo Minkin, 77, of Oakfield, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 25, 1936 in Ironwood, MI, the son of Leo and Marion Minkin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1954 "“ 1957 and served in the Reserves until 1962. Roderick worked for Wisconsin Power & Light as an electrician retiring in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion Post #210 and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed doing yard work and traveling.He is survived by his dear friend and companion, Mary Walter, Oakfield; one son, Michael (Anne) Minkin, Midland, TX; three grandchildren, Mindy (Keven) Portz, Steven Minkin, and Michael Minkin, Jr.; five great grandchildren; a special cousin, May Hendrickson, Gile, WI. He is further survived by Mary's children, Eileen Sorgent, Mayville and her children, Ashley and Tyler Sorgent, Cecelia Eggers, Mayville and her children, Michael, Melanie and Savannah Eggers, and John Eggers, Wild Rose and his daughter, Paige Eggers. He was preceded in death by his parents.



The visitation will be held from 1:00 PM "“ 4:00 PM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the traditional services.Memorials can be directed to Gogebic Community College, Ironwood, MI or American Legion Post #210, Waupun his Roderick's name.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of ManorCare Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion given to Roderick and his family.
