Roger E. Blonigen, age 92 of 480 Portage Street, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at his residence. Roger was born in St. Cloud on November 25, 1915 the son of Henry and Philomena Weber Blonigen. On August 24, 1926 he married Julianna M. Schmitz in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on November 11, 1983. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corps stationed in the Central Pacific from 1942 to 1945 obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Roger worked at Giddings & Lewis for 32 years as a machinist retiring in 1980. He was a member of Holy Family-Sacred Heart Parish since 1957, Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie No. 270, Wescot Sportsman's Gun Club, and St. Cloud American Legion Post No. 478,a member for 65 years. In years past Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing.He is survived by his friend, Dorothy Wendt, Fond du Lac, three children, Wayne (Chris) Blonigen, Fond du Lac, Lynne Lord, Mason City, Iowa, Thomas (Mary) Blonigen, Eldorado, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Further survived by one brother, Jerry Blonigen, St. Cloud, three sisters, Bernice (Larry) Kohlman, Fond du Lac, Lucille Lefeber, St. Cloud, Joan Buechel, Elkhart Lake, nieces and nephews. His parents, wife, five brothers and two sisters preceded Roger in death
At Roger's request private family visitation and funeral services will be Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Avenue. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
