Roger U. Schmitz

Roger U. Schmitz, 92, formerly of Johnsburg, WI passed away at Villa Loretto Nursing Home Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born September 3, 1930 in Mt. Calvary, a son of the late William and Sadie (Haensgen) Schmitz.

Roger lived with his parents on their family farm outside Jericho, then moving to Johnsburg where his parents retired from farming. Following his father’s death, Roger resided with his sisters exchanging times between Pipe and Chilton. His final home was that of the Villas in Mt. Calvary where he enjoyed spending time with people, following the Brewers, the Packers, and listening to polka music. He was the family historian never forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sadie Schmitz; siblings, Delores Karls, Elvira Criter, LaVern Schmitz, and Erna Ludwig.

The visitation will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 AM on Saturday at church. Burial will be held at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mt. Calvary.
