Roger W. Emerson, 91, a resident of Sterling House, Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the home. Roger was born May 30, 1917 in Chicago, IL, the son of William and Clarice Jacobson Emerson. On May 17, 1941 he was married to Elizabeth "Betty" Collins in Wilmette, IL by Betty's grandfather, Reverend Harry James Collins. Roger worked as a trust officer for Continental Illinois Bank and Trust of Chicago in Chicago, IL. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Roger was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Fond du Lac. He was also a member of the Elks Club lodge # 1043 in Woodstock IL. and Disabled American Vets. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, crossword puzzles, his workshop and reading the Chicago Tribune. Survivors include, one daughter, Debi Emerson of Oshkosh, one brother, Donald Emerson, La Grange Park, IL, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty on April 25, 2005, daughter, Karen, two sister, two brothers and several brothers-in law and sisters-in-law.
At the Roger's request, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation will take place with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, IL. "His daughter would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Sterling House and Heartland Hospice for their excellent care through the years."In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roger's name may be to: Heartland Hospice, 63 W. Pioneer Road, Fond du Lac, WI 54935 Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
