ROMAN B. STEPHANYRoman B. Stephany, 85, of 605 Marshall Avenue, Fond du Lac, died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Grancare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fond du Lac. He was born the son of Edwin and Mary Halbach Stephany on July 9, 1922 in Malone, WI. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. On June 29, 1946 Roman married Ruth A. Saltzwadel at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Mary's Church. Roman was a painter with the Soo Line for 38 years retiring in 1983. He also bartended for Fox's Tavern and the Brass Lantern for many years. Roman was a member of the Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie #270 and the Carman's Union. He enjoyed polka music, fishing, watching sports, especially the Packers, cooking and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.SURVIVORS: his wife of 61 years, Ruth; two daughters, Patricia Stephany and Linda Stephany, both of Fond du Lac; twin sons, Daniel (Julie) Stephany and David (Christine) Stephany, both of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Amy (Joshua) Ackerman, Joseph (Ashley) Stephany, Kimberly Stephany, Benjamin Stephany; four great-grandchildren, Dominick, Treylon, Mekhi and Jayce Ackerman; two sisters, Cynthia Wendt, Van Dyne and Regina Huck, Fond du Lac; one sister-in-law, Nancy Stephany, Janesville; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Jahn and Immanuel Kaiser, both of Fond du Lac; a special friend, Joan Krueger, Fond du Lac. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Melvin) Totzke, Fond du Lac, Lillian Saltzwadel, North Fond du Lac, and Agnes Leonhardt, Fond du Lac; numerous nieces and nephews. Roman was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Leona Pierce, Monica Kaiser, Dorothy Jahn, Anna Schultz; two brothers, Edwin Stephany, Francis Stephany; four sisters-in-law, Melverna Hanke, Myrtle Fellrath, Dorothy Moore, Carol Saltzwadel; three brothers-in-law, Arthur Saltzwadel, Donald Saltzwadel, Harold Saltzwadel.
VISITATION: will be from 5 "“ 9 PM on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 9-10 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary's Church with Rev. Vic Capriolo officiating. Cremation will follow traditional services.
