ROMAN "ROMIE" JOHN LAMERSRoman "Romie" John Lamers, age 89 of 245 North Brooke Street, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at All About Life Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Milwaukee on November 29,1917 the son of Herman J. and Elizabeth K. Kraus Lamers. On July 17,1972 he married Gladys L. Equitz in Racine. Roman was a member of the Cathedral of St. Paul, V.F. W. Bohlman-Grimes Post #1904, American Legion Trier-Puddy Post No. 75, Sunriser's Kiwanis Club, serving in various offices in each of these organizations. He was an Associate of The Sisters of Holy Nativity, Writers Club of Fond du Lac, Senior Center serving on the Policy Council. He served on the board of directors of ADVOCAP, formerly with Hospice Hope and Peer Counseling. He was an avid bowler. Roman volunteered driving veterans to the various veteran hospitals in the state. He volunteered at Rolling Meadows and All About Life Nursing Homes and was a Eucharistic minister at his church. He was the institutional representative of the Boy Scouts of America for the St. Paul's Cathedral Boy Scout Troop. Roman drove truck for Railway Express Agency for 23 years retiring in 1975. During his retirement he was a salesman for Fuller Brush and Watkins Products. He was well known as Santa Claus from 1975 to 1986. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II from August of 1943 to March of 1946. He was stationed in Okinawa. Survivors include his wife Gladys L. Lamers, Fond du Lac, two sons, Phillip Lamers, West Bend, Lawrence (Beth) Lamers, San Jose, California, two daughters, Linda (Jerry) Ohser, Park Falls, WI and Kathleen (Jamesjohn) Schuette, Kiel, one step-son, Lee (Pat) Klitzke, Allenton,WI . Fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, one brother Dr. Gerald (Maxine) Lamers, Spokane, Washington, two sisters, Audrey (Vladimir) Sova, Milwaukee and Sue (Leonard) Acoin, Pine Mountain, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.



There will a Memorial Service on Thursday, December 14,2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of St. Paul. The Very Reverend Theodore McConnell will officiate. Cremation has taken place with inurnment in the Cathedral Columbarium. There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service.In lieu of flowers memorials appreciated St. Paul's Cathedral, 51 East Division Street, Fond du Lac, WI 54935Kiwanis Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District Foundation or the Fond du Lac Senior Center."
