Ronald J. Broege

July 20, 1935 — December 25, 2014

Ronald James Broege, 79, went to be with his Lord on December 25, 2014. He was most recently a resident at Manor Care in Fond du Lac. He was born at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac on July 20, 1935 to William F. and Lena A. (Pomering) Broege. He graduated from Fond du Lac High in 1954. Ron married LuAnn Cameron on November 8, 1958 at First Presbyterian Church of Fond du Lac. After LuAnn's death in 1999, he married Beatrice (Roehrig Ertl) on September 1, 2001. Ron was a supportive husband and father and was a hard-working man having two jobs for most of his life. He worked at Purina Mills in Fond du Lac for 40 years and more than 20 years at Kroger and Sentry food stores until his retirement in September of 1999. Ron served in the Army Reserves from April of 1958 until February of 1964. Ron loved to travel and made it to all but four of the United States and to Europe twice. He also loved music and enjoyed playing the accordion. He especially enjoyed music and his room at Manor Care was often filled with polka tunes from his turntable. Ron was a dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years serving as an usher for many of those years.



Ron was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, Alfred and Lena Howard, his first wife, LuAnn, siblings (William and Kenneth), his father-in-law Ambrose Roehrig, brother-in-law Peter Roehrig, and nephew Luke Roehrig.



He is survived by his wife, Bea, and his daughters, Elizabeth (Mark) Mannenbach, Linda (James) Cofta, and Sara (Rob Owens) VanderGrinten, his beloved grandchildren, Emily (Sam) Baker, Kate (Jon) Gerber, Evan Mannenbach, Benjamin Mannenbach, Ashley (Nathan) Macchia, Zachary VanderGrinten, and TJ VanderGrinten, and his great granddaughter, Lillian Rae Baker, and his brother-in-law’s Alan (Mary) Roehrig, and Michael Roehrig, sister-in-law’s Susan Pitzen, and Rhonda Roehrig, foster sister Ruth Ann Vives, sister-in-law Nan Broege, and many friends and relatives.



The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and the staff at Manor Care. They would like to especially thank Trish in the memory care unit for the excellent care that she provided for Ron.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 30th from 3-5 PM at First Presbyterian Church at 1225 Fourth Street in Fond du Lac. A celebration of his life will follow at the church beginning at 5 PM with the Rev. Jack Harrison officiating. Cremation has taken place, inurnment will take place in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Thank you Ron for always having a smile on your face, an encouraging word for your children and grandchildren, and your kind and gentle spirit. You never had a bad word to say about anyone. You are loved and your million dollar smile will be missed.
