Ronald W. Wachendorf

Ronald W. Wachendorf, 80, of Fond du Lac and formerly of Oakfield, died Saturday, February 12, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born December 21, 1941 in Milwaukee, the son of Kenneth and Lillian (Patzke) Wachendorf. Ron graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1961. On September 28, 1963 he married Bonnie M. Halfmann at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oakfield. Ron worked for Giddings & Lewis until his retirement in 2003.



Ron enjoyed watching the Brewers, Badgers, Bucks, and Packers, but most of all watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a history buff, and enjoyed astronomy, trains and walking. He loved spending time with his children and family.



He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; five children, Lynn (John) Immel, Pam (Rick) Jones, Bill Wachendorf, Brett (Stephanie) Wachendorf, and Sara (Robert) Martinez; nine grandchildren, Justin (Jayson) Immel-Esparza, Christopher (Jessica) Immel, Dacia (fiancé, David Baye) Immel, Rylee Jones, Peyton Jones, Julian, Ava, Vivian, and Isaac Martinez; three great grandchildren, Ollie and Ezra Immel and Michael Baye; one sister, Janet (Bill) Briggs; four brothers-in-law, David Halfmann, Dennis Halfmann, Robert (Jean) Halfmann, and Tom (Cathy) Halfmann; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Esther Halfmann; sister-in-law, Kathy Halfmann; and two nephews, Darin Briggs and Jeremy Steffen.



At Ron’s request cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held.
