Roy Magana, 78, of Hickory Street, Fond du Lac, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born the son of Cornelius and Natalia Vera Magana on April 30, 1930. On April 16, 1951 he married Betty Sampson in Minnesota. Roy was a maintenance welder at Mercury Marine for many years. He loved the outdoors, gardening, spending time with family, and took up deer hunting at the age of 73. He could not get in the woods often enough and always competed for the most/biggest deer with is son and son-in-law. In recent years he won the competition. Roy was a falconer, raised pigeons and truly loved birds. He also took up bow hunting way too late in life, but treasured every minute he could spend in the woods or sitting around the fire telling lies. More than anything, Roy loved his family and spending time with them.SURVIVORS: his wife, Betty; one daughter, Wanda (Stephen) Karpathian; one son, Vincent (Bonnie) Magana; one son-in-law, James Forester; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers and sisters; other relatives and friends.
At Roy's request there will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
