Ruth M. Hinz, age 94, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, March 1, 2008 at Grancare Nursing Center, Fond du Lac, where she had been a resident for the past year. Ruth was born December 4, 1913 in the town of Eldorado, Fond du Lac county, the daughter of August and Ida (Hartman) Woller. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School in the town of Eldorado. On February 25, 1933, Ruth married George H. Hinz the son of August and Hulda (Mathie) Hinz at St. John's Lutheran Church in the town of Nekimi in Winnebago County. They operated the family farm in the town of Eldorado for many years. Ruth also worked at SNC in Oshkosh for a number of years. Upon retiring and selling the farm in 1974, they moved to the city of Fond du Lac. During their retirement, Ruth and her husband worked part-time as custodians for several years, at Memorial Church in Fond du Lac, located directly behind their home. Ruth was a member of Senior Saints at St. John's Lutheran Church where her and husband had been members since their marriage. She enjoyed planting and caring for flowers, both indoors and out, and was especially proud of her red climbing roses. She enjoyed visiting and playing cards with friends. She especially enjoyed visits and playing card and board games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth and her husband had four children. Ruth is survived by three daughters; Lois Brummond of Mayville, Beverly (Donald) Bechler of Van Dyne, Bonnie (Jan) Schumacher of Fond du Lac, and one son; Leo (Jeanne Wilson) Hinz of Sheboygan. She is further survived by twelve grandchildren; Sheri (Roy) Williams, Vicki Brummond, Dennis Brummond, Laurie (Dale) Schraufnagel, Michael (Holly) Bechler, Jeffrey (fiancé Emily Hoyt) Bechler, Deborah (Brian) Butzlaff, Robert (Karen) Hinz, Carri (Jon) Gabrielse, Nicole Hinz, Michael Schumacher, Tony Schumacher; and twelve great-grandchildren, Eric, Kayla, Michael, and Jacob Schraufnagel; Amanda, Josie, and Logan Bechler; Emily Butzlaff; Joshua and Mason Hinz; Haylie Gabrielse; and Angelina Hinz. Ruth is also survived by one sister-in-law, Elna Beduhn, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, George in 1986. Also preceding her in death were three sisters; Meta Bradley, Ada Woller, Ada Allen; three brothers; Alfred, Ervin, and Reuben Woller; two nephews; Raymond and Elwood Woller; one niece; Madelyn Beduhn; and three brother-in-laws; Aldor, August, and Carl Hinz.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. - 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 491 Old Oregon Road, Town Oshkosh, Wisconsin(six miles south of Oshkosh). The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday at church with Pastor Reiff officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Grancare Nursing Center for the loving care given to our mother during her entire stay there and especially during past weeks.
